Research Area: UN Peacekeeping
Much of the day-to-day violence in conflict-affected communities arises from local disputes over land, cattle, and water rather than from rebel-government warfare. The lab studies how UN peacekeepers manage these disputes, why civilians cooperate across group lines when they perceive enforcers as impartial, and when peacekeeping instead generates unintended consequences. This research draws on lab-in-the-field experiments, the georeferenced RADPKO deployment dataset, and qualitative fieldwork across the Sahel.
